Troops spring surprise on bicycle-riding terrorists

Troops of the Mobile Strike Teams (MSTs) 21 on Operation Lafiya Dole deployed within the 21 Brigade Nigerian Army Area of Operations on Monday gunned down suspected Boko Haram terrorists along Firgi- Banki Junction Road in Borno State. Several other members of the terrorist group sustained gun shut wounds.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. General Sani Usman, in a statement on Monday, disclosed that the troops recovered several items from the bandits, including 18 bicycles, 15 bags of grains, 17 gallons of grain, five empty gallons, six cutlasses, a sword, water bottles and pairs of slippers.

Usman recalled that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, through the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru recently inaugurated the MSTs.

He said the teams were highly trained and well equipped “injected into Operation Lafiya Dole with the mandate of securing the Main Supply Routes (MSRs) in addition to conducting limited clearance operations.”
