Labour pays courtesy call on Jime, pledges support

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) at the weekend paid a courtesy call on the Managing Director, Hon. Emmanuel Jime, at NEPZA’s corporate headquarters in Abuja.

The Managing Director, who received the senior labour officials, in the company of other management staff, thanked them for the visit, saying that as a unionist at heart, he was committed to cordial relations with labour.

He said the incentivization of workers was a critical ingredient in harmonious relations between management-labour, and reiterated his resolve to make staff welfare a top priority.

He told his ASCSN audience: “Staff welfare is my top priority. I want it on record. This is why I followed up my promise in Calabar by challenging the management team to bring out creative ways of improving staff welfare. We will take the bull by the horns, and walk the talk. I met happy staff here, and we must keep them smiling.”

Earlier, the union’s Secretary-General, Comr. Isaac Ojemhake, who led the delegation, said the union had heard about the new managing director’s salutary moves in repositioning both the Authority as well as its workforce, and had, therefore, come to fully identify with him.

He disclosed that the association was committed to responsible unionism via industrial education, and was sponsoring the Chairman of ASCSN, NEPZA Chapter, Comr. Semari Yakubu, for a conference in July/August, 2017.

Management staff in attendance were the GM (Business Development), Engr. David Nongo; the GM (Compliance and Enforcement), Mr. Bitrus Dauk; and that of Zones Operations, Mr. Oyekunle Oyesola.

The rest were AGM (Kogi/Ondo FTZs), Mr. Pius Owenyi; AGM (Compliance and Enforcement), Sr. Manager (Adm/Human Resources), Hajia Halima Kamba and Sr. Manager (Managing Director’s Office), Richard Obianu.

The roll call of union officials at the meeting was: Comrades: Isaac Ojemhake, ASCSN); Samari Yakubu, NEPZA; Com. Elias Idoko, ASCSN; Moses E. Udofia, ASCSN; Ismail T.
