The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, on Monday addressed participants at a symposium held at the Rwandan Defence College where he presented a paper on ‘Contemporary Approaches to Fighting Terrorism: Challenges and Prospects’.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier Sani Usman, the presentation dwelled on causes of terrorism, the fight against Boko Haram, challenges and prospects with emphasis on the successes recorded and respect for human rights.
Usman said the panel of discussants at the symposium also had Lieutenant General Robert Kariuki Kibochi, Commander of Kenya Army, Brigadier General Joseph Nzabamwita, National Secretary of National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) of Rwanda, amongst others.
“The aim of the symposium was to deliberate on matters of national, regional, continental and security among the guest speakers, panellists and the participants,” the Army Spokesman said.
