The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about the country’s weather condition for today, Sunday, May 7, 2017:
NORTHERN STATES: Cloudy to partly cloudy conditions is expected to prevail over this region with chances of localised thunderstorms around Yelwa and Kebbi axis during the morning period. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 34 – 42℃ and 24 – 30℃ respectively.
CENTRAL STATES: Cloudy condition with chances of moderate thunderstorms is anticipated over cities such as Abuja, Ibi, Lokoja, Makurdi, Jalingo, Mambilla, Lafia, Minna and Ilorin axis during the early hours of the morning. There are also prospects of localised thunderstorms over the high ground areas such as Jos and Kaduna later in the day. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 32 – 34℃ and 22 – 26℃ respectively except Jos with 30/19oC.
SOUTHERN STATES: Increased cloudiness is expected with chances of moderate thunderstorms over the coastal cities such Lagos, Ijebu-Ode, Port Harcourt and Calabar during the early hours of morning. Also to be affected are Akure, Ado Ekiti, Oshogbo and Ibadan. There are also prospects of localised thunderstorms over cities such as Enugu, Owerri, Awka, Abakaliki, Benin, Warri, Yenagoa, Calabar and Port Harcourt during the evening/night period. Day and night time temperatures are expected to be in the ranges of 31 – 33℃ and 21 – 25℃ respectively.
