Army, Police synergise to fight crime in Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian Army has declared its readiness to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force in the fight against crime and criminality in Akwa Ibom State.
The Commander, 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Abdu Hassan, gave the indication when he paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Don Awunah, last Tuesday.
In his response, the CP stated that the hallmark of internal security is inter-agency collaboration.
He further assured the Brigadier General that as a lead agency in internal security, the Police will always partner with the Nigerian Army to achieve national growth in the area of law enforcement and crime prevention.
Awunah further assured members of the public that the command has put in place an intelligent team and also activated all the tactical teams in an effort to reduce crime in the state.
He therefore, implored law abiding citizens to co-operate with the Police and provide necessary information.
“It is important to emphasise that crime prevention and control is a collective responsibility,” the CP said, according to a statement issued in Uyo by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu.
