An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Anambra State, Ogbuefi (Comr.) Eze Harris Chuma, is at the verge of decamping to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the ruling party in the state.
Comr. Chuma, in a statement issued on Thursday, said he decided to throw his weight behind incumbent Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, following consultations with a wide spectrum of the people of Anambra North Senatorial District, from which both he and Governor Obiano hail.
The statement, a copy of which was made available to News Express, reads: “After wide consultations, robust and constructive engagements with leaders of thought, political think thank and key stakeholders in Anambra North Senatorial District, and having critically studied, as it were, the emerging political undercurrents in the state, I hereby elect to do the dance prevalent at the moment. I hereby wish to officially announce my withdrawal from Anambra 2017 governorship race. My decision to withdraw from the race is predicated on a personal conviction to allow good sense of reasoning prevail over personal interest, for the greater good of all.
“I sincerely urge the good people of Anambra North Senatorial zone to support Gov. Willie Obiano’s re-election bid. As an ardent critic of Chief Willie Obiano’s administration, I have followed his antecedents over time, and realised that he is good listener, and is unflinchingly committed to the cause of delivering good governance to Ndi Anambra.
“I hereby declare my support for his re-election, while promising to stand with him all the way. Let us join forces with him to retain the sloth for Anambra North. We ought to know that Providence will frown seriously at anyone from our zone whose political naivety demarkets our only saleable brand.
“Consequently, my campaign and strategic team under the aegis of Ogeneigbo Political Movement have declared our allegiance and cooperation with Anambra North Interest Defenders (ANID) and wish to join hands with other Gov. Obiano’s support groups in the state to ensure his landslide victory at the polls during the November 18, 2017 governorship election.”
