The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has predicted that November’s governorship election in Anambra State would be an easy win for the party.

Deputy National Chairman of the party, Uchenna Okogbuo, who made the prediction while chatting with newsmen in his Uzuakoli country-home in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, noted that apart from the popularity of the party in Anambra, Governor Willie Obiano has acquitted himself creditably to merit re-election.

“We know that the people (of Anambra) are solidly behind him.  Ask them any time, any day, they will tell you that Obiano is the man they know,” said Okogbuo.

“We are expecting a 99 percent vote for Obiano in that election because he is not only a committed Governor, but has also become an acceptable leader. His people love him,” he added.

Okogbuo said his prediction was based on the performance of Obiano who has built on what he met on ground.

“Obiano is building on what his predecessors, Governors Chris Ngige and Peter Obi left behind and the people are happy for that. The electorate are happy with him and, expectedly, his re-election bid will be smooth,” he maintained.

He explained that Obiano has done well in office because he was very receptive to good ideas. “Obiano is one Governor who, if you present him with any good ideas, he will accept and implement them for the good of the people,” he said.

According to him, Obiano has largely succeeded by building on solid foundations and structures laid and built by his predecessors in office.

He, therefore, commended former Governors, Chris Ngige and Peter Obi for identifying and addressing the major challenges facing the state, adding that their unity of purpose created consistency in the development of the state.

He said that through the efforts of the three administrations, the state has evolved from negative tendencies to being a model state in the country where there was unhindered economic development.

He dismissed fears that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the federal level could use security agencies to hijack the election, saying that the people will resist such move.
