The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) on Monday raised the alarm over a brewing religious upheaval in President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state, Katsina.

It noted in a media release endorsed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director, Miss. Zainab Yusuf, that the social media is inundated with information that Islamic Clerics in Katsina are preaching to their followers that President Muhammadu Buhari was poisoned.

“We urge the DSS to put measures in place to forestall any attacks against Christians by overzealous Islamic fanatics whose minds are being polluted with the fake story of the poisoning of President Muhammadu Buhari,” the association stated.
