Ogun Deputy Governor Yetunde Onanuga.

Newly recruited officers in the Ogun State Civil Service have been charged to justify the opportunity given to them by complementing government’s efforts at ensuring efficient and quality service delivery to the people.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun threw the challenge during the opening of a two-day induction programme held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, yesterday.

Amosun enjoined the new officers to see their appointments as a call to serve the people and state by adding value to government's programmes in their various ministries, agencies and parastatals.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Onanuga, the governor also admonished them to jealously guard against all manners of misconduct that could jeopardise the positive values and virtues of founding fathers of the Civil Service.

According to him, Ogun Civil Service is noted for excellence and the best among its peers in the federation and so they should sustain the ideal of discipline, right attitude and efficient service delivery the state Civil Service is noted for.

The governor also reiterated his administrations continuous gesture to compensate hard work, efficiency and professionalism, with improved welfare packages, not minding the paucity of funds occasioned by the nation’s dwindling economy.

In her welcome address, the Chairperson of the State Civil Service Commission, Chief (Mrs.) Ronke Folarin noted that the 803 newly recruited officers were the successful applicants short-listed by the commission for the year 2016 public service entrance examination, the model schools recruitment exercises as well as officers on Grade levels one to six, who participated in the year 2015 promotion and upgrading exercise.

The recruitment exercise, she added, was consciously carried out in fulfilment of the state government’s promise to check unemployment in the state.
