Suicide bomber nabbed in Maiduguri

A suicide bomber has been arrested by in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State, by security personnel and taken away for interrogations. Reports earlier in the day spoke of a suicide bomb attack at Kasuwar Shanu market in Maiduguri, but it later emerged that two terrorists were on the deadly mission, one of whim landed in security net.

A PRNigeria report said: “An attempt by two suicide bombers to wreck havoc a day after Christmas has been thwarted as one of the suspects was killed while the other arrested by security personnel.

“Emergency workers have evacuated the dead body of the female bomber, while Nigerian troops took the other away for interrogations.”

The report quoted Abdulkadir Ibrahim, a spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), North-East with an office in Maiduguri, as saying: “Emergency workers were immediately drafted to scene at Kasuwar Shanu, a market in Maiduguri where cattle and other domestic animals are sold.”

PRNigeria said that no other casualty was recorded apart from the date of the two bombers.
