Unidentified gunmen suspected to be cultists have shot and killed a final year student of the Imo State University, Owerri.

The victim, whose real names are yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report, was said to have been shot at a close range at a popular drinking bar close to the university campus.

Eyewitness account says the victim was seated at the bar, when some suspected cultists arrived the scene and shot him twice on the head before zooming off the scene.

The eyewitness account says the suspected cultists shot sporadically in the air leaving everybody around the area to scamper for safety before aiming for their target.

However, minutes after the sad incident that left the victim dead, men of the Imo State Police Command arrived to secure the premises. They quickly sealed off the arena and evacuated the lifeless body of the victim.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, when contacted to confirm the incident said the matter was yet to be reported officially to the Police.

He, however, promised that as soon as this is done, the Police would keep the media abreast of further developments. (Channels TV)
