Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in charge of Financial System Stability, Dr. Kingsley Moghalu, is now an Honourary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), the umbrella professional body for bankers in Nigeria.
He received the big honour minutes ago at the 2013 Investiture of the CIBN held at Harbour Point Event Centre, Victoria Lsland, Lagos, South-West Nigeria.
The citation of Dr. Moghalu read at the occasion described him as a “prolific writer, tested and charismatic leader” of international repute who was recently decorated with the award of the Officer of the Niger (OON) by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Apart from Dr. Moghalu, six ther distinguished bankers were also conferred with Honourary Fellowship of the CIBN while 44 were conferred with Membership and 132 with Honourary Senior Membership.
The event was graced by bankers from all walks of life, including elder statesmen of the profession, among them Deacon Gamaliel Onosode, Eze (Prof.) Green Nwankwo, Chief Chris Adimora, former CBN Governor, Dr. Joseph Sanusi, and Pa Kazeem, one of the foresighted bankers who founded the CIBN 50 years ago.
Other dignitaries included CIBN President/Chairman of Council, Mr. Segun Aina; CIBN Registratr/Chief Executive, Dr. Uju Ogubunka; CBN Director of Corporate Communications, Mr. Ugochukwu Okoroafor; the Guest Speaker, Mr. Tay Kay Luan, Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Bankers, Malaysia; and a representative of the Special Guest of Honour, Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo.
