Just recovering from the trauma caused by the face-off between the police and the oil pipeline vandals, the residents of four communities in Ibafo, Ogun State, have raised the alarm over incessant attacks by dare-devil armed robbers, calling on the state Police Commissioner to come to their rescue.
Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent lamented that in the last two weeks, robbers have invaded Aleluia Quarters, Ebute, Unity Crescent, Asiwaju and Alayo communities, robbing them of their cash, phones, laptops and other valuables.
One of the residents, who identified himself as Samuel told our correspondent on Tuesday that the police seemed to be helpless as the robbers operated in the communities in the dead of the night and were going from one house to the other to carry out their nefarious activities unchecked.
Samuel said, “In the past two weeks, some residents of these communities have lost cash, phones, and laptops valued at hundreds of thousands of Naira.
A housewife at Alayo, (names withheld) lamented that it seems officers from Ibafo Police Station are helpless, as the officers might still be living in fear of the militant attacks in Ebute and environs.
Efforts to get Muyiwa Adejobi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, for official comment on the issue proved abortive as male officer that answered the call claimed the number was for Police Control Room. (Independent)
