4 perish in Bauchi fatal accident, man nabbed with human head

Four persons were confirmed dead on Monday when a fatal motor accident occurred at Miya Berkete village in the Toro area of Bauchi State.

According to SP Haruna Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Police Command, the accident occurred when an Opel Vectra Ash in colour with REG No FH 277 ABC, driven by one Saadi Abdullahi male and 35 years of Plateau State conveying five passengers from Jos to Bauchi while on high speed brushed a motorcyclist named Jibrin Haruna and his pillion.

“As a result,” the Police said, “the driver lost control of the vehicle and had a head on collision with an incoming Golf 3 vehicle, blue in color with REG. No.BSA 306 SC, driven by one Moses Dabo male and 34 years of Jos conveying five passengers from Bauchi.”

A Police Patrol team attached to Toro Division was said to have visited the scene and rushed casualties to General Hospital Toro for medical attention.

According to the police report, four female passengers were certified death on arrival by a medical doctor while nine other occupants including three female Youth Corps members, two   drivers, a motorcyclist and his passenger and one CPL Rabiu Othman, male of NPF, serving in the Nasarawa State Command were referred to ATBU Teaching hospital Bauchi for treatment.

“The deceased persons, Maryam Usman, female (18) of Tilden Fulani, Hajara Idris, female (25); Amina Shuabu, female (7) and Dayiba Musa, female (25); all of Rukuba Town in Plateau State.

However, the injured victims identified and referred to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi for treatment include, Esther Enock, a 27 years old female Youth Corp member serving at Treasury, Ministry of Finance Bauchi; Samina Sami female, (23); Serving at Faith Revival School, Rafin Zurfi Yelwa; Rosemary Surname whose address was yet to be ascertained; Hauwau Umar, female (10) of Tilden Fulani and Kethren Markus, female (35) of Yelwa and her seven years old daughter one Joy Markus.

The Corpses have been released to relatives for burial after post-mortem examinations and case under investigation.

Meanwhile, the Police Command has arrested Maikudi Mohammed, male (25) of Galambi village, for possession of human head wrapped inside a cloth in Misau Town.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect conspired with his accomplice, one Damina Mohammed male and 26 years of the same address went to a grave yard in Galambi village and removed the head of a male child corpse in order to sell it to their customer who is now at large.

The principal suspect confessed that the child was his son who died and was buried but he later went back to the graveyard at night with his accomplice and exhumed it. The case is still under investigation after which suspects would be charged to court.
