Lagos State Head of Service, Mrs. Olabowale Ademola, has charged public servants in the state to cultivate healthy living habits.
Mrs. Ademola gave the charge on Tuesday in Lagos while flagging off the health screening exercise for public servants in the state in continuation of the activities commemorating the Y2016 Public Service Week. She stressed that it is only when they are healthy that they would be able to discharge their duties and responsibilities well.
“I enjoin you to take the issue of your health serious. You should eat well and exercise regularly. You should undertake tests for lungs, diabetes, and cancer in order to detect them early enough. It is when you are healthy and fit that you would be able to devote yourself to your duties,” she noted.
The Head of Service pointed out that government is concerned about the health of its work force hence the health screening exercise forms part of the activities lined up for this year’s Public Service Week.
Meanwhile, no fewer than 25 charity organisations in the state are expected to benefit from the kindness and large heartedness of public servants and well-meaning people who donated various items including bags of rice, bags of beans, various household items and noodles amongst others.
Mrs. Ademola who also inspected the items before being moved to the charity organisations commended those who donated freely and willingly towards the exercise, adding that God loves a cheerful giver.
She noted that public servants in Lagos State decided to identify with the needy and less privileged while celebrating this year’s Public Service Week in order contribute their quota to the development of society.
