Traffic on the outbound lane of the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway has been a nightmarish experience in the past few hours following a multiple accident that has resulted in a massive go-slow.
“The accident involved up to eight vehicles, among them cars, a bullion van and a tanker,” said a source who spoke with News Express. “Traffic officials are battling to clear the road under the watchful eyes of armed and stern-looking security men in view of the content of the bullion van,” the source added.
The source, a lady working on Lagos Island, said she left her office around 5:30 p.m. in the hope of meeting a 6:30 p.m. appointment in the Berger area but had her hopes dashed by the go-slow resulting from the multiple accident.
The accident, which happened between Ojota and Berger has led to a traffic snarl from the Third Mainland Bridge end of the road, which usually experiences much traffic on Friday evenings.
It is not yet clear what led to the multiple accident and if there were any loss of life.
