The Nigerian Army minutes ago confirmed the rescue of one of the Chibok school girls kidnapped from their school dormitory in Borno State on April 14, 2014 by Boko Haram terrorists.

“This is to confirm that one of the abducted Chibok school girls, Falmata Mbalala, was among the rescued persons by our troops at Baale near Damboa,” Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said this afternoon in a statement.

A BBC report quoted by News Express and several other media had given the name of the rescued girl, who became a mother while with the terrorists, as Amina Ali Nkek. BBC had claimed that she was found by a vigilante group on Tuesday in the Sambisa Forest of Borno State.

The kidnap of the 276 girls by Boko Haram sparked global outrage and President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to make their rescue a top priority.
