The kid gloves with which President Muhammadu Buhari has treated the atrocities of Fulani herdsmen in the country’s South and Middle Belt “makes him somehow complicit” a popular activist said today.
Lagos-based activist lawyer and journalist Richard Akinnola vent his anger in a Facebook update in which he declared: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
He wrote: “Arise, Nigerians and defend yourselves against the rampaging terrorist gangs, masquerading as herdsmen. From Agatu, to Akure, to Ibadan to Enugu, this madness must stop. “It is a big shame that our president has treated this matter with kid gloves. That makes him somehow complicit. This is a great indictment on the president that many of us staked so much to support. I am not a blind supporter of Mr President. Person wey dey cry dey see road o.
“It is also a shame that the Inspector-General of police, instead of confronting these marauders, rather, he is giving instruction to his men to arrest buyers and sellers of fuel in jerry cans. People are already angry that they can't get fuel to power their generators in a situation of utter darkness, now you want to arrest them for buying fuel in jerry can. This is a recipe for a breakdown of law and order. Mr IG, send your men after the rampaging herdsmen terrorists and leave Nigerians alone to source for fuel since your government has been unable to do so. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.”
