Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora and Foreign Relations, on Sunday, urged all Nigerians in the 300 million-dollar Diaspora Bond to take advantage of the bond.

According to her, the bond, with at least five to 10 years maturity and annual dividends, attracts between five per cent and eight per cent interest rates, adding: “This is certainly a plus for patriotic investors.”

She noted the rates were more than bank deposit or certificate of deposit which was within two per cent interest rates.

Dabiri-Erewa, in a statement in Abuja, commended the National Assembly for endorsing the bond. She expressed delight over the unanimous support for the bond by the House of Representatives.

The Presidential Aide, who described the approval as a good development, said that the bond would give opportunities to patriots to actively engage in the welfare of their country.

Dabiri-Erewa also congratulated Nigerian-born Anthony Joshua, who recently won the IBF World Heavyweight Champion belt.

She said Joshua’s victory reflected hard work, dedication and a brave heart.

While describing the victory as well-deserved, Dabiri-Erewa wished the boxer the best in his future contests.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the boxer’s parents are Nigerians and that he spent his early years in Nigeria before returning to the United Kingdom.

He is currently the IBF heavyweight champion and he also holds the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles.

Joshua is ranked the world’s sixth boxer by ‘The Ring’ magazine and the second boxer in history to win a professional world heavyweight title doubling as the Olympic champion at the top weight.

He will be defending his title on June 25.
