Welcome to the live commentary of this Round of 16 clash between Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and Uruguay’s Los Charruas at the Ali Sami Arena in the commercial town of Istanbul, the home ground of top Turkish club Galatasaray.

We’re sorry to be reporting a bit late for duty but we hope to make up for it.

The match started on the dot of 7pm (Nigerian time) as we earlier reported. It has been aptly dubbed a clash of third-bests because Nigeria’s Flying Eagles finished third at the African Youth Championship in Algeria in April and the Los Charruas also placed third in the South American version of the qualifiers.

Interestingly, both teams started out on a losing note at Turkey 2013 before recording two straight wins to finish runners-up in their respective first round groups.

This is the second time that Nigeria would be playing inside the Ali Sami Arena, the home ground of top Turkish club Galatasaray, but the first for Uruguay. Nigeria are the home team, having stayed back after the win over South Korea.
