The Chairman, Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix Obuah, yesterday expressed “boundless joy and gratitude” over the successful hosting and massive participation in last Saturday’s Thanksgiving Service celebration of the Supreme Court verdict in favour of the party and its candidate, Governor Nyesom Wike.
The PDP Chairman, in a statement signed by Mr Jerry Needam, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, particularly thanked “the good people of Rivers State, the teeming PDP faithful from the 23 local government areas and the non-indigenes who defied the intense heat of the sun to massively attend the PDP-organised event” held at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Bro. Obuah said he cannot thank the Guest Preacher and General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibeomie, enough for his presence and Episcopal blessings upon the governor, the party and the state, describing him as a true Servant of God, and in whom the party and indeed all Rivers people are well pleased.
He also appreciated the honour done the party by its national leadership led by the National Chairman, Alhaji Ali Modu Sherriff, the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, and members of the National Assembly led by the Minority Leader, House of Representatives, Hon Leo Ogwu. He said that Rivers PDP is proud of the national leaders and will continue to support all programmes and policies of the party aimed at the development and success of the party at the state and national levels.
“Bro. Obuah further expresses heartfelt gratitude to all those who could not attend physically but showed solidarity and support in various ways, saying the party is eternally grateful to them.
He equally commends the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for all his supports leading to the success of the party and the event, praying God to continue to give him the courage, strength and wisdom to enable him pilot the affairs of the state to greater height and to use the mandate given to him by the people and reaffirmed by the Supreme Court to better the lot of the electorate, who found him worthy to be their governor,” the statement said.
Obuah, according to Needam, “also lauds the stunning performances by the various choirs that featured at the occasion, thanking other ministers of God, religious leaders, chiefs and traditional rulers, groups, members of the business community and the media for their presence, and for identifying with the party during the celebration and thanksgiving to God for the Supreme Court victory.
“Bro Obuah wishes all participants God’s abundant blessings and guidance, urging them and all Rivers people and Nigerians to continue to support the PDP on its mission to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, reassuring the party’s commitment not to toil with the victory but to use it to bring smiles on the faces of all Rivers people and Nigerians.”
