More than 2,000 persons benefitted from the medical outreach used to mark the birthday of the member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ossy Prestige.

Prestige made this known Monday in Aba during the conclusion of the two-week medical mission held in two locations on Aja by Ohanku Road and on Amaokwe Hall by St. Michael’s Road.

Represented by his Senior Legislative Aid, Mr. George Okeiyi, Prestige maintained that he has been a Rotarian and has been engaging in humanitarian works, hence his resolve to use the medical outreach to mark his birthday.

According to the aide, “Prestige said that he would not celebrate anything but would use the money he could have used to celebrate to provide medical treatment to the needy and those who voted for him.

“By the doctor’s recommendation, we have had over 100 persons that are to go for surgery and the surgery, the Prestige will underwrite. All these programmes are undertaken by him full-scale.”

Okeiyi said that the medical team attended to all who showed up at the venues and gave them treatment, in addition to carrying out detailed investigations on the patients to determine if the person would need further treatment.

Beneficiaries showered praises on the lawmaker for his kindness. A beneficiary, Mr. Orji Agbai, a Warehousing Officer, said he came to access medical care as a result of the eye problem he was encountering. He said he needed to treat his eyes which do not allow him to read, and to get a pair of eye glass.

Agbai said the medical personnel examined him and gave him a pair of eye glass, drugs and other gifts. He expressed happiness for the gesture and thanked Hon. Prestige for remembering them while asking God to bless him the more.

Another beneficiary, a trader, Mr. Chinedu Ndukwu, said he had malaria and came to be treated by doctors on the medical mission.

Ndukwu said he has never seen such help in Abia State before now and thanked Hon. Prestige for the gesture, promising to sustain his political support for the lawmaker.
