Presidential Hotels Port Harcourt shall be agog today with Christian bodies, parastatals, educational institutions and individuals of sound Christian minds, as Amb. Professor Rev. Mercy Oluwafunmilayo Adesanya-Davies unveils her contribution to kingdom knowledge, Audio Bible in Pidgin English and 20 other Nigerian languages project.
According to the highly visional woman, the Audio Bible project is in response to God’s question and divine mandate which she has over the years, expended so much on, spiritually and materially to achieve. As a linguist, she has laboured towards the vision as a woman with great passion for soul winning.
The objective of this Audio Bible project, she said, is to provide daily bread for the hungry souls of mankind which only God’s word can feed. She sees the bread as an answer to the fondest heart-throbbing questions of man and solution to all situations bothering man, spirit, soul and body.
The Audio Bible is available in pidgin English and 20 other Nigerian languages, among them Ijaw, Okrika, Ogoni, Hausa, Efik, Fulani, Benin, Ibibio, Igbo and Yoruba.
The executive producer, Adesanya-Davies, is a linguistic lecturer with the Rivers State University of Education, Rumuolumeni.
The primary targets of the Audio Bible, she says, are the illiterates and the old, who cannot read the print Bible. “It is also a hope for the blind, who can hear but cannot read, and an asset to the ministers of the Gospel in our villages and other rural areas as a ready tool and solution,” Prof. Adesanya-Davies said.
