The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the weekend embarked on a statewide grassroots peace sensitisation tour ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for December 5.

Governor Seriake Dickson, while addressing the traditional rulers and people during the sensitisation tour at Otuasega in ward 4 of Ogbia Constituency 3, urged them to be peaceful and vigilant during the election as adequate security will be provided.

He advised that, despite threats from the merchants of violence, they should not be intimidated, urging them to turnout en masse with their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, and ensure their votes are protected after voting.

Responding to demands by the chiefs on the renovation of the two dilapidated primary schools, provision of desks and solar power to boost water supply, Governor Dickson gave the assurance that the schools will be provided with desks in two weeks time.

As politicians we are in governance to provide peace and development. Stand up for your right and work with the community leaders and the police and avoid merchants of violence.

"The permanent voter card is what will win election, work with those who will bring peace and development, there should be no violence and hooliganism as you vote to bring back a responsible government like ours’.

In his welcome remarks, paramount ruler of Otuasega, Chief Claudius Enegesi disclosed that, Otuasega is the home of the PDP, as the party has brought infrastructural development to the community, including the Model Secondary School, and the Okaki-Otuasega road.

Also, in their separate remarks, Hon. Naomi Ogoli member representing Ogbia Constituency 3 in the Bayelsa State House Assembly, Chairman of Ogbia Area Council, Enayam Abah, and PDP Women leader in the State, Mrs. Faith Opene urged the people to come out in their numbers to vote for the PDP at the polls.
