The Akwa Ibom State Government has declared today a work-free day to mark the 28th anniversary of the creation of the state.
This is contained in a press statement by the Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah and made available to journalists on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the statement, the work-free day is to afford the people the opportunity to participate in activities lined up to mark the day.
The government has planned a number of activities to mark the day, one of which is the launching of a campaign for moral transformation, spiritual rebirth and re-orientation, code-named “Dakkada” literally meaning “stand up”, an initiative of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
