Breaking News: APGA National Convention takes off in Awka

The National Convention of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has taken off in Awka, capital of the South-East state of Anambra.

The convention is holding at the Women and Children Development Centre, Awka.

Delegates started arriving around 10 O’clock last night while the convention started around one this morning following the conclusion of the accreditation of delegates.

The convention is being attended by delegates from various parts of Nigeria and is expected to produce a new set of national leaders for APGA, one of Nigeria’s better known opposition parties which currently controls two of the country’s 36 states, namely, Anambra and neighbouring Imo.

Party heavyweights attending the convention include host Governor Peter Obi, the party’s Acting National Chairman, Chief Maxi Okwu, serving state and national lawmakers as well as former Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, aming others.
