Popular Abuja-based transporter and politician, Alhaji Yahaya Bello a.k.a Fair Plus has bowed to pressure and entered the gubernatorial race in Kogi State. Alhaji Bello, who is also a big player in the construction industry, told News Express that he decided to enter the race following calls from people across the 21 local government areas of Kogi to come and rescue the state before its total collapse.
“With this in view, myself and some like minds across the state, irrespective of tribe, religion and ethnic background, formed the rescue group for the forthcoming APC governorship primary election coming up on 29th August 2015 in Kogi State. It is known as Kogi Youth Awareness,” he said.
The 40 years old frontline guber aspirant from Kogi Central Kogi Central candidate, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, promised to develop, provide adequate infrastructural facilities and basic amenities in Kogi if elected by the people of the state in the forthcoming election.
He told News Express Correspondents over the weekend at the APC Secretariat in Abuja: “After 24 years of the creation of Kogi State, it still lacks all the basic amenities such as god roads, water, hospitals, modern schools, stable electricity supply and, above all, human development capacity.”
Fair Plus lamented Kogi’s backwardness after 16 years of unbroken democratic rule, accusing the incumbent administration of Capt. Idris Wada (rtd.) of mismanaging the state’s resources. He promised to chart a new course for Kogi and its people, saying:
“The educational sector is not working and, as a result, schools are on strike. Civil servants have not been paid salary for over six months. So, these are the reasons why I am saying that, with the support of my like minds, come January 2nd, 2016, Kogi will start moving in a new direction.”
