The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) now has a new National President. He is Mr. Waheed Odusile, who has just been sworn-in as 16th President of the union alongside his executive elected at NUJ’s 5th National Triennial Delegates Conference in Abuja.

Odusile beat five other presidential contenders, namely, Rotimi Obamuwagun, Dele Atunbi, Uzaka Seifa (USA), Mike Aladenika and Mustapha Lamidi.

The conference holding at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, has also seen the election of 16 officials into the 17 elective positions of the Central Working Committee (CWC), the apex organ of the NUJ National Executive Committee (NEC). Candidates numbering 29 contested for the various positions.

The theme of the conference is “Fostering the Safety of Journalists and Building Synergy with Agents of the State”.
