The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C Don Adinuba, has urged aspirants for the November 2021 governorship election in the state to conduct themselves in the most orderly and acceptable manner as they did during the 2017 election or be ready to face the wrath of the people.
Adinuba who spoke in Awka on the heels of recent release of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) time table for the election advised aspirants to market their work plans to the people devoid of vulgar statements and attacks on the incumbent governor.
He described the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a party with no moral impetus to lead the state.
According to him, PDP government while holding sway denied workers one year salaries and also denied the citizens education for one year.
The Commissioner said: “Anambra people now know the truth and they would not like to return to Egypt again.
“The state does not wish to return to the era where a sitting governor was kidnapped and the party allegedly forged his letter of resignation.
“The party that carried out the infamous mayhem of burning down the House of Assembly complex including the Governor’s Lodge in Onitsha coupled with the Government House Awka, the Judiciary, the Anambra Broadcasting Service complex and a host of other public buildings, do not have the moral justification to rule the state again.
“The party that falsified election results and engaged in the most unconscionable looting called the Irrevocable Payment Standing Orders through which a handful of contractors were allegedly paid regardless of the job they did or did not do would not rule the state again. They put the state into peonage.”
While stressing that a party that brought so much ruins to the state is not expected to make a comeback to strangle the state completely, Adinuba observed that the founder of the party, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, was humiliated twice by the party, saying that Anambra citizens were not oblivious of the sacrilegious acts and heinous crimes committed by the party when it was
He maintained that the governorship election in 2017 was a smooth sail without any incident of violence, noting that when the results came out APGA won in every local government area of Anambra State.
“For the first time candidates issued statements accepting defeat and praising the victor and accepting to work hand in hand with the re-elected governor.
“And the very day Obiano was re-inaugurated on 18th March 2018, some1qof the candidates were there including Godwin Ezeemo, Uche Ekwunife, Sen. Ben Obi, Sen. Chris Ngige; thereby showing the level of social harmony in Anambra State.
“They should continue to work in the Anambra way which is the way of social harmony and democracy. This election will be 21/21 again.
“Go to the streets and markets you see the real voters wearing APGA dress and putting on APGA cap as a badge of honour. Even Keke riders, bus drivers and others carry APGA flags because APGA is not a political party but a mass movement. APGA will win the election again and other political parties will accept defeat.”
