The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Good Governance has commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for choosing the immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, as its candidate for the October bye election for the Bayelsa West Senatorial District.

The group said on Tuesday that PDP’s decision further expressed its readiness to entrench the institution of Democracy, as former Governor Dickson, is not only an accomplished politician by the virtue of his service to Bayelsa, as a two-term Governor, but also as an experienced parliamentarian, having previously served as a member of the House of Representatives.

In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Olufemi Lawson and John Atani, Coordinator and Secretary, on behalf of the Coalition, the group pledged its support, towards ensuring a landslide victory of Honorable Dickson, during the Senatorial bye election.

“The choice of former Governor Dickson, as the PDP candidate for the Bayelsa West Senatorial election, to us, is not just an acknowledgement of his outstanding performance as the Governor of Bayelsa State, but a further affirmation of the trust of the party, in answering the call of the people of His Senatorial District, to have continued to demand more services of this patriot, towards the collective aspirations of his constituents, and the Ijaw nation in general. We therefore see this, as a right step in the right direction. This is a development that is very pleasant to us, and now is the time to appreciate pay back Governor Dickson, for his selfless service, as the Governor of Bayelsa State.”

The group further urged the people of Bayelsa West Senatorial District, not to take chances with their votes, as it also urged the party, to enlarge its coast to incorporate more members for the task ahead and throw all  that is legally allowed to win October  2020, Senatorial bye election.
