Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to the electorate to vote in its candidates in the April 11, 2015 Governorship and House of Assembly polls, saying the party holds great prospects for Ndigbo.

The party, in a last ditch efforts to win the polls, held zonal campaign rallies at the three Senatorial Districts across the state last Saturday,  persuading Abians not to be disillusioned by the All Progressives Congress victory at the federal level, insisting that there was still hope for PDP.

Speaking at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, venue of the Abia Central Senatorial District rally, Governor Theodore Orji appealed to PDP members in the state to ensure that they delivered the PDP governorship and House of Assembly candidates in the April 11 polls, saying that he has confidence in the candidates.

Orji urged the Abia central PDP candidates to remain steadfast in the party and strive to emerge victorious.

He commended party faithful in the zone for delivering all PDP candidates in the Presidential and National Assembly elections and urged them to repeat the feat on April 11 to prove “that PDP is on ground.”

The governor assured Abians that “PDP is a solid party with prospects for Ndigbo,” adding that “there is hope for PDP.”

Earlier, Minister of State for Defence, Col. Austin Akobundu (Rtd), had called on PDP members to work hard to deliver the party’s candidates for the April 11 polls and thanked them for voting and giving PDP candidates victory in the March 28th elections.

In their contributions, Sam Onuigbo and Darlinton Nwokocha who won the Ikwuano/Umuahia and Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency seats in the zone in the March 28 National Assembly polls, expressed their gratitude to the Abia Central people for returning them and other PDP Candidates and appealed to them not to give room to any other party in next Saturday’s polls.

Other speakers at the event, including Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, Chief Allen Nwachukwu and Chief Godwin Amechi, promised to work harder to win all the positions in the governorship and House of Assembly elections slated for April 11.

It would be recalled that PDP clinched the governorship position and won the 24 seats in the Abia House of Assembly in 2011.
