Emotions ran high yesterday (Monday) in the Sokoto residence of the immediate past National Vice Chairman (North-West), of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Inuwa Abdulkadir, after the news of his death broke. He died in the early hours of the day after a brief illness.
A friend and his colleague in APC, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, said he received with rude shock the news of the passing away of a friend and brother.
He said there are no words adequate enough to describe this loss to him, the family, the people of Sokoto State, APC and indeed Nigeria.
Senator Na’Allah prayed to Allah “to forgive Abdulkadir’s shortcomings and grant him Aljanna as his final abode.”
He also prayed to Allah “to give his immediate family the courage to bear the irreparable loss.”
The late Abdulkadir held the traditional title of Magatakarda Babba (Chief Scribe) of the Sokoto Sultanate. He once served as Company Secretary of the state-owned Sokoto Newspaper Company, publishers of The Path Newspaper.
He served as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Sokoto State, before he was appointed Minister of Youths and Sports during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
He was elected National Vice Chairman (North West) of APC under the recently dissolved Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC).
Barrister Nasiru Ibrahim Junju, representative of the Senator, who spoke with our correspondent at the residence of the deceased, said he was buried at 2pm in Sokoto according to Islamic rites.
