All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders South East meeting which was called by the South East zonal Chairman, Chief Emma Eneukwu, at the instance of the Buhari 2019 Presidential Campaign Director-General, Hon. Minister, Rotimi Amaechi has rejected Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha as the chairman of the 15-man campaign council for the zone.

Reacting to Amaechi’s briefing to the South East stakeholders at the residence of Senator Chris Ngige at Abuja last Thursday, the leaders sited several verifiable reasons why Okorocha should not be the chairman of the South East campaign council.

Prominent among the litany of objections included Okorocha’s alleged unpopularity among Ndigbo, the religious organisations and his inability to provide effective leadership to the APC in the South East.

They also sited the loss of two governorship elections in the South East and Okorocha's refusal to fund APC in Imo State and other anti-democratic actions, among other numerous reasons to support their objection.

Amaechi was said to be so embarrassed by the avalanche of negative remarks by the stakeholders that he made spirited efforts to explain how the decision to appoint serving governors of APC as chairmen of Buhari campaign council at their respective zones, and advised the stakeholders to manage the decision.

Further meetings have been fixed to deliberate more on this issue. (The Sun)
