•Alleged killer wife Maryam Sanda and late husband Bilyamin Bello
An Abuja high court on Friday remanded in Suleja prisons Mrs Maryam Sanda who was alleged to have killed her husband, Bilyamin Bello, son of former PDP National Chairman, Mohammed Bello.
The FCT command of the Nigerian Police had on Monday filed two counts of culpable homicide against her.
Maryam who was seen in court mostly covered up, however, pleaded not guilty.
The police said the alleged killing was premeditated, and as such, they would be seeking a death penalty, should the accused be found guilty.
Attempts by Mrs Maryam’s lawyer to ask for bail orally or alternatively allow her to remain in police custody were turned down by Justice Yusuf Halilu.
Subsequently, the trial was adjourned to December 7, 2017.
Bilyamin was allegedly killed in his Maitama home in Abuja on Saturday night by his wife who is the daughter of Maimuna Aliyu, a former Aso Saving Bank executive.
Reports say Maryam allegedly stabbed him several times based on allegations of infidelity after seeing a text message on his phone.
He was later rushed to the hospital where he eventually died.
The couple had a daughter together. (Channels TV)
