Every month, the government in Awka gives N10,000 each to reporters covering it to close their mouth from saying or publishing negative stories about Anambra.

A few days ago, one of the media aides of the governor called my correspondent in Awka to inform him that he has been blacklisted from the list of those who collect the monthly largesse. Reason? He sends critical reports to Casmir Igbokwe, who is not their friend.

For the avoidance of doubt, my new online publication, NewsProbe, is not in the habit of killing stories for any reason. The government in Awka considers me an enemy, hence the media team does not send press releases to me. Mr James Eze occasionally sends me Bob-Manuel Udokwu’s propaganda videos to show me that Willie is working. Few days ago, I was surprised that he sent me an opinion piece which I published because I’m not as petty as they are.

It is a tragedy that the government in Awka is in enmity with most of the stakeholders that brought it to power. The case of Mr Peter Obi is well known.

It is also a tragedy that a government that should try to make friends with the press and indeed with everybody is busy creating imaginary enemies everywhere. Does that show good leadership? Does that show good media management and public relations. When a leader begins to categorise some of his subjects as friends and some others as enemies, that leader does not deserve that position. Obiano is a serious mistake in Anambra and should be shown the way out on November 18.

So much to say. But let me stop here for now and await the response of paid e-rats in Agu Awka before I go full blast.

Casmir Igbokwe, Publisher of NewsProbe, writes from Lagos.

Latest News Fake eye surgeon in police net Ben Dunno, Warri The Police at the Warri Area Command in Delta State has commenced investigations into the activities of an auxiliary nurse at the Central hospital, one Mrs Abanum Chidi, who had been operating as an eye surgeon on unsuspecting members of the public. Investigations carried out by Our Correspondent revealed that the suspect usually engaged as theatre assistance to qualified eye surgeons carrying out major operations at the hospital, sometimes impersonates as surgeon to also operate on patients when the doctors are not around. Her cover was reportedly blown recently when she operated on the eye of a patient who happens to be the husband of a Magistrate in Warri which later resulted in further complications currently threaten to cause blindness. The matter which was being reported at the ‘B Division’ Okumagba Avenue in Warri, prompted police investigations which revealed that the suspect had been involved in carrying operation on patients under the pretense that she was a qualified surgeon. Confirming this in a telephone conversation with our Correspondent, the Delta state Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Andrew Aniamaka, said the police had commenced investigations into the case. According to him, “Yes a nurse by name Mrs. Abanum Chidi, of central hospital Warri, who is not even a surgeon, clandestinely used the operations room of the hospital and operated on the eye of one Mr Gift Aruokpere, of 150 Airport road, Warri on May 2018, and it resulted in serious complications”. “While our men at the ‘B division’ police station, Okumagba Avenue have commenced investigation into the matter, we want to assure the members of the public that the Command is alive to its responsibility in ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of innocent citizens”. *Pls use Nigeria police operatives World Cup: Saraki, others to watch Super Eagles against Iceland in Volgograd Saudi warns sick and old people against Hajj pilgrimage Most Nigerian cities to experience rains, thunderstorms on Friday – NiMet BREAKING: Croatia crush Argentina 3-0 to reach 2018 World Cup knockout stage The criminals in police uniform Witness to history DSS nabs 2 suspected Islamic State commanders in Abuja 2018 Budget: SERAP recommends ICC prosecution of lawmakers over cutting of critical projects Windstorm, Fire Disaster: Buhari weeps in Bauchi nPDP members to attend APC Convention: Baraje 2018 budget: FG to borrow N1.6tn to fund deficit
