As the Supreme Court delivers final judgment on the protracted legal tussle over the governorship of Abia State, the Government House at Umuahia appears to have been temporarily shut down.

This follows the relocation of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu and functionaries of his government to Abuja ahead of the judgment.

Recall that Uche Ogah, President/CEO of Masters Energy, has challenged the legality of Gov. Ikpeazu’s candidacy under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alleging falsification of tax papers.

While Ogah secured victory at the Federal High Court, Abuja, as he was declared governor of Abia State by Justice Okon Abang, the Court of Appeal subsequently nullified his victory.

The decision was, however, challenged by Ogah at the Supreme Court which after submissions by parties reserved final judgment for May 12.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the PDP and Commissioner for Housing, Osita Igbe, has enjoined all Abians to support Okezie Ikpeazu and Abia South Senatorial District for the governorship of Abia State to 2023.

Igbe, a former Majority Leader in Abia State House of Assembly, said he expected all Abian to join hands with the governor to move the State forward immediately the elections were contested and won, rather than creating distractions.

He however, charged all well-meaning Abians to stop forthwith, all actions that are inimical to development.

The commissioner posited that without litigations and political distractions, Gov. Ikpeazu would have achieved more for the people.
