Yobe State Government has constructed and donated a solar powered borehole at Gashua Prison that will cushion their effect of water scarcity.

This unique and laudable project was received with joy by the inmates saying it has alleviated their problem of portable water shortage being face by the prison and the communities around it for long.

Commissioning the project, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engineer Mohammed Suraj Wakil explained that they urgently reacted to the request by the prison authority for the construction of the borehole considering the need of the prisoners to have access to clean and portable drinking water.

The Controller of Prisons, Yobe State Command, Alhaji Isa Sabo Kashuri, which was represented by the officer in charge of Gashua prison, CSP Abdulhameed B Shehu, thanked the State Government for the gesture and promised to manage the borehole effectively.
