Abia State governor, Chief Theodore Orji, says creating an additional state for Ndigbo is not negotiable as the demand is hinged on equity. The new state, according to him, could be carved out from any of the five South East states.
Orji (shown in photo) says the South East Governors’ Forum has already endorsed the quest for the creation of the new state to bring it at par with other geo-political zones in the country.
In a statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, made available to News Express in Umuahia, the Abia Chief Executive made it clear that though he is an ardent supporter for the creation of Aba State out of the present Abia, his stand does not mitigate the creation of the new state from any of the five south eastern states.
The statement noted that Orji was full of praises for all those championing the creation of new states in the South East region, especially the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, for their commitment, sacrifice and efforts in giving Ndigbo a pride of place in the country.
“This is one cause all Ndigbo are committed to and they will not rest until their dream comes true,” the governor was quoted as saying, adding: “This struggle is anchored on equity, fair play and justice.”
