No fewer than 26 Fulani have been killed by the outlawed volunteer group, popularly known as Yansakai group, at Tungar Wabi hamlet under Dangulbi district of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State yesterday.

A resident of Wabi village told journalists in Gusau via a telephone chat that the Yansakai group had organised themselves with their counterpart group from Kebbi State and launched attack on the victims.

He said the group, during the attack had made away with some cattle belonging to the victims.

When contacted, the Zamfara State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sanusi Amiru, confirmed the incident, saying that the police had arrested two unauthorised and outlawed volunteer group members.

He also stated that record available to the command indicated that only 13 innocent Fulani men were killed by the suspected Yansakai group during the attack.

The police image-maker said already officers and men of the command had been deployed to the area to restore peace, stressing that exhibits recovered from the arrested suspected Yansakai members included one locally made gun, cutlasses and charms.
